The old portal is officially dead. Why was there an “old” portal at all you ask? That’s a very good question with some interesting answers. And by “interesting” I mean to me and not so much to you.
But in reality there was one reason and that was the two student information systems. The old portal talked to the old system and the new portal talked to the new system. There wasn’t enough resources to make the new portal talk to the old system. The way the new information system was rolled out was that it had “new” data only. So to access historical records we had to leave the old systems in place.
But now all the data and functions of the old system are in the new system and thus we really only need one portal.
Yay.
