Wherein we write down some stuff that we know.

CalState Accessibility Workshops

I hope to be providing some updates from the ATI workshops being held today and tomorrow. More when it actually starts…

The opening session pointed out a very scary fact: We’ll be seeing about a 10% increase in students with disabilities due to the war in Iraq. The first large attempt at accessible technology was after World War II when a large number of returning GIs were blind or had damaged vision.

“OH SNAP” Slide of the Day:

“What’s the difference between a car sales person and a technology sales person?” “The car sales person knows when they’re lying.”

That’s a very interesting prediction – the increase in SWOD due to war. I wonder if the particular type of war injuries being sustained due to IED’s means more joystick/keyboard interfaces as opposed to the blindness of WWII vets caused by phosphorous bombs, heavy artillery bombardment, etc. Too soon?
