Experimenting with Twitter

August 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Not long after the Virginia Tech shootings there was an article on the College Web Editor blog asking if Twitter could be used for emergency communications. I argued that this would be a poor use of Twitter and of campus resources in a situation where resources are critical. I still stand by my […]

CAS Interface Update

August 10th, 2007 · No Comments

Yesterday, we updated the CAS interface. It’s now based on the Yahoo YUI CSS library. Working with the YUI library has been a blessing. We’ve converted most of our web applications, as well as any websites we create, and even a few we update, to use the YUI library. Next up to get converted to […]

HOWTO: Search Subfolders in Outlook 2007

August 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

I just about went bonkers when I found no easy way to search subfolders in Outlook 2007. First, the Advanced Find box was nowhere to be found (hint: Ctrl+Shift+F). Then, I discovered that my beloved “search all subfolders” checkbox was gone! Oh noes!

Google was no help a month ago when I discovered the problem. Today, […]

SPOF/SPOC Redux

August 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

This came up in a discussion between Scott and I today and I realized that it would be good to provide the context in which the statement was uttered.

When that sentence first spewed forth from my frontal lobe, I was attempting to convey the advantages (at least in our heterogeneous university IT environment; unknown for […]
